Pappe Brings the Heat With Imported Indian Curry Spices

Pappe prides itself on the heat packed into its curry from the Goa region of India. In fact, it claims the curry is so hot that the vindaloo "ought to come with a fire extinguisher." You can be the judge of that when you visit Pappe and order the vindaloo curry with vinegar, ginger, garlic, red chilies and your choice of chicken, lamb, cod, or shrimp.

Before you dig into the entree, however, share a few small plates with your dining companion. Try the crab pav, Goan crab cakes with soft bread tamarind and mint chutney, or the tandoori gobi, a dish of roasted cauliflower with black pepper, ginger, and garlic. Complement the small plates with garlic naan or whole-wheat roti. Then pick your entree. If you're not into heat, opt for a mild version of any of the entrees, which feature meat, seafood, or plant-based proteins.
