The Keegan Theatre: Allegro’s ‘Hidden Secret’ for Award-Winning Performing Arts

According to the Keegan Theatre's mission statement, this DC company is committed to showcasing "extraordinary artists in an intimate setting exploring the human condition." That's a tall order, but regular theatre-goers agree it's just what you'll get at this performing arts venue near Allegro. In fact, this company's performances have been recognized by Washingtonian magazine, who named Keegan Theatre one of Washington's "hidden gems."

The theatre's physical space is newly renovated and now features seats with added legroom, ADA-accessibility, and upgraded light, sound, and temperature-control systems. What hasn't changed, however, is the unique historical character of the building itself: you still approach a century-old brick building located within a neighborhood of rowhouses, then pause to admire its original wooden doors before you enter the renovated lobby.
