The Dance Institute of Washington: Where Allegro Dancers Can Practice Their Pirouettes
As its name suggests, The Dance Institute of Washington teaches dance of all kinds: tap, ballet, hip-hop, and more. But it is also committed to — as its mission puts it — "building self-esteem, discipline, and the drive for excellence among at-risk children and youth through dance training and arts education." That's a pretty powerful mission, and when you combine it with the Institute's pre-professional and professional dance companies, it's easy to see why this DC agency has such a good reputation.
The Institute's youth outreach programs offer mentoring, life skills training, and workforce development, in addition to dance, and it's thanks to these wrap-around support services for at-risk youth that the Institute has been the recipient of so many awards over the years.
The Institute also offers dance classes for adults, so if you've always wanted to learn how to pirouette, here's your chance, Allegro!
