Los Hermanos: Where Allegro Sates a Craving for Dominican Fare
Twenty years ago, the family-run business that would eventually become Los Hermanos cooked 25 pounds of rice each week. Today, that number has risen to nearly 400 pounds of rice each week, thanks to the popularity of this DC restaurant's tasty Dominican food and its kitchen's commitment to cooking for customers as if they were family.
Ordering is easy: you can ask for a recommendation from any staff member (they're generally happy to share their own favorite dishes), or you can build your own meal in three simple steps. First, choose a rice variety (seasoned yellow rice or plain white), and then choose your meat. Traditional choices like bacalao (salted cod with potatoes) and stewed beef are especially popular. Finally, add a side, like mashed plantains or black beans.
New to Dominican food, Allegro? Start with the crowd-pleasing combo of grilled chicken, seasoned rice with peas, and fried plantains.
