Love Beer? Find One of the Most Impressive Selections in Town at Churchkey
In the early part of the twentieth century, beer began to be mass produced and packaged in bottles. This new technological process allowed beer to be transported more widely and stored more safely, but it also required the innovation of an opener, called a “churchkey.” That name — and the tradition behind it — lives on at DC’s Churchkey, a bar on 14th Street that has become one of the key spots in DC’s craft beer scene.
Local newspapers and Yelp reviews both call it the best beer bar in the city, thanks to its wide variety of craft brews ranging from small batch cask ales on tap to bright, spicy blond ales imported from Belgium. In fact, you’ll find 555 types of beer on offer here, which means you can happily spend months slowly working your way through the entire list. Browse through the menu (organized by flavor), or just ask the bartender for a recommendation.
