Don’t Miss Brian Skerry’s “Sharks” at the National Geographic Museum
The current exhibition at the National Geographic Museum takes a rare and in-depth look at sharks and their important role in our ecosystem. Sharks is a body of work by award-winning National Geographic photographer Brian Skerry that highlights the often feared and fascinating creatures with large and breathtaking imagery, videos, artifacts and interactive experiences.
More than 100 million sharks are killed every year, primarily for their fins. Certain species of sharks that once dominated the seas are nearly gone because of the shark fin trade. The "Sharks" exhibit hopes to show why the animal should be respected and protected.
The National Geographic Museum is open daily from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and has additional exhibits as well as a café and gift shop. It is one of the few museums in D.C. that charges an entrance fee. Purchase tickets on site, or at their website to eliminate service fees. Annual passes are also available.
