Queen’s English Serves Up the Unexpected Near Allegro

There’s a new spot in Columbia Heights called Queen’s English, and its cuisine might surprise you. They specialize in Hong Kong style food and drink in a beautifully intimate dining space. Come for drinks on your first visit – Queen’s English has more options and ingredients than you can imagine, and they create flavor profiles worthy of their sophisticated setting. If you decide to stay on for dinner, seating is first come, first served, and Queen’s English is kind enough to send you a text if a table isn’t ready when you stop in.

The food has a distinct Asian influence, and flavors like soy, ginger, and Chinese five spice permeate all of the dishes. The website promises that hot pot is coming soon, which should be a high-end take on the humble Asian favorite. Queen’s English is closed Sundays and Mondays, but opens at 5:30 p.m. the balance of the week. Find the chic eatery on 11th Street NW, just between N Park Road and N Monroe Street.
