August 17 Near Allegro: The DC Music Rocks Festival
Live music fans, do you want to rock out in celebration of your local scene? Then mark your calendars for Saturday, August 17th. That’s when the DC Music Rocks Festival will take place. This music festival features a lineup stacked with excellent local, regional, and national performers, setting up what is sure to be a memorable night at the 9:30 Club.
This festival is coordinated by The MusicianShip, a charitable non-profit dedicated to providing music education and experiences to the community, with a focus on at-risk youth. They’ve curated the bill, which features mostly local acts. These artists are not representative of just one genre or movement; together they comprise the vibrant collage of sound that is the DC music scene. From the folk tunes of The Eli Lev Collective, to the indie pop of Sub-Radio, to the funk and hip-hop of Iza Flo, it is a set of performers as diverse as the community around you. It’s all topped off by the sensational Carribean band Los Empresarios, of “Sabor Tropical” fame. Doors open at 7pm. Tickets are $15.
