Enjoy a Taste of the Islands at Casta’s Rum Bar
Regulars at Casta’s Rum Bar say it’s a lively and fun DC happy hour destination, thanks to the bar’s long cocktail list and plenty of tasty food specials. Order a classic mojito or Cuba libre, or go for one of the bar’s frozen pina coladas, and consider pairing your drink with a couple of small plates to share with friends (empanadas are always popular, as are the crispy golden yucca fries).
The space itself is designed to feel something like a courtyard in Cuba, filled with lush tropical plants, patio-style string lights, and colorful murals on the walls. Lots of bar seating and high-top tables make it easy to mix and mingle, while live DJs on the weekend turn up the volume on the dance floor. Prefer a quiet meal? No problem. Yelpers note that weekday meals here are pretty low key, as are early dinners on the weekend.
