Comfort Food Gets a Modern Twist at Emilie’s
Next time you’re looking for a unique dining experience, consider heading over to Emilie’s, a newly opened eatery on Capitol Hill. Here, owner and executive chef Kevin Tien brings his award-winning experience in Japanese and Latin-American culinary traditions to a new project: classic American comfort food, served family style with a few modern, global twists.
As soon as you’re seated, you’ll want to order a cocktail and choose a loaf of house-baked bread to share at the table (Yelpers particularly recommend the sourdough). Then the "ferments" cart will come over to your table and you’ll choose a variety of spreads, dips, and pickled veggies to pair with your bread. As you nibble at this first course, you’ll peruse the menu and decide what you want to try next. How about an order of crispy ranch fried chicken for the whole table (it comes with thick slices of Texas toast and plenty of house-made hot sauce). Want something a little lighter? Try the whole grilled branzino (it’ll easily serve four) topped with a chili soy sauce and ginger.
